• Is DEI a nonprofit organization?

DEI is a business that is not profit-centric, but we are not a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to advance defense education, methodology and technology.By maintaining a traditional business entity status, we have the freedom to utilize and appropriately compensate consultants and advisors, engage in marketing, sales and advertising without the constraints associated with a 501c3.

  • Can my facility/agency/educational institution become a DEI affiliate?

Currently, DEI affiliates with individuals and not organizations. In this way the performance and vetting of individual skill levels is preserved with complete integrity.

  • Does DEI offer beginner or introductory courses?

Not at this time. We have chosen to focus on intermediate and advanced courses because we believe this is the best way to spur evolution with regard to defense education. Most, if not all of our certified instructors will provide introductory safety and operation instruction upon request, but they will utilize other existing curriculums and not those associated with DEI.

  • Why does DEI have Psychology and Technology Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)?

Defense education is not limited to the use of tactics and armaments. We must remain aware of and continue to research leading edge technologies, thought patterns and effects associated with defense of life in order to remain relevant and well rounded. Our Psychology and Technology SMEs are critical to the success of our mission.

  • Why does DEI have a Competitive Shooting Subject Matter Expert (SME)?

Competitive shooting has bearing on real world defensive tactical applications due to its exclusive focus on speed, efficiency of engagement and efficiency of movement. While not all competitive shooting principles can be applied to defense scenarios, many concepts can be learned from operating in fast-paced environments such as 3-Gun, USPSA, Knockdown Steel, IDPA and others.
